FloRacing's Dirt Power Rankings

1) Ricky Thornton, Jr.

There's not a race car driver in America who has proven to be more diverse behind the wheel in recent months than Ricky Thornton, Jr. The UMP Modified star turned Dirt Late Model driver has expanded his resume with impressive showings behind the wheel of Micro Sprints and Midgets. 

So far this year, RTJ has collected a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series wins at Bubba Raceway Park (FL) and All-Tech Raceway (FL) on his way to leading the championship standings. In 13 races between the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series and World of Outlaws Late Models, he recorded nine top-five finishes in January and February. 

Recently, Thornton visited victory lane behind the wheel of an A-Class Winged Micro Sprint at Wayne County Speedway. He also turned heads with an impressive showing in January's Chili Bowl Nationals.

2) Hudson O'Neal 

If our power rankings only factored in Dirt Late Model races, Hudson O'Neal would likely be sitting P1 after two-plus months of racing. "The New Deal" took some time to get acclimated behind the wheel of his Rocket1 ride, but once he got the monkey off his back the wins began to pile up. 

After recording five top-five finishes in the first eight races of the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series season, O'Neal collected back-to-back wins to conclude the Winternationals at East Bay Raceway Park. He followed that up by winning a DIRTcar Late Model feature and World of Outlaws Late Model Series race during the DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park.

3) David Gravel

David Gravel is off to a hot start in pursuit of his first career World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series championship. The Connecticut native is the only driver to win more than a single WoO race thus far, with three wins to his credit at Volusia Speedway Park. His three wins and a runner-up finish are enough to place him at the top of the World of Outlaws championship standings after five races.

4) Carson Macedo

Carson Macedo joins the list of Sprint Car drivers with two touring series wins on their resume early on in the 2023 season. Macedo kicked things off with an All Star Circuit of Champions win at Volusia Speedway Park. A few days later, he scored his first World of Outlaws Sprint Car win of the season at the same race track. 

In addition to two wins in his home country, Macedo claimed three wins in Australia during the month of January.

5) Tyler Courtney 

Tyler Courtney is back with the All Star Circuit of Champions in 2023 as he seeks his third straight championship. It didn't take "Sunshine" long to regain form, as he visited victory lane in the third race of the season at East Bay Raceway Park. He followed that up one night later by winning another battle against Justin Peck at East Bay's Winternationals.

6) Jonathan Davenport

Dirt Late Model racing's hottest driver from last year picked up where he left off by winning three straight races to kick off the Wild West Shootout at Vado Speedway Park. Since those three wins, "Superman" has cooled off a bit with only one win in his last 14 starts, with his one win coming during a Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Bubba Raceway Park on January 30.

7) Logan Seavey

A busy year for Logan Seavey began with a victory in one of the most prestigious dirt races in the world. Driving for the Swindell Speedlab/Bertrand Motorsports team, Seavey claimed his first Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals win in January. 

When you win a race as big as the Chili Bowl, that's enough to keep you in the power rankings for a few minutes. Now, it's up to Seavey to build on his momentum as he competes full-time with the USAC Midgets, USAC Sprints and USAC Silver Crown Series in 2023.

8) Brady Bacon

Brady Bacon didn't take long to win his first USAC National Sprint Car race of the year. "The Macho Man" kicked the season off in February with a win in the USAC Winter Dirt Games event at Bubba Raceway Park. More recently, Bacon traveled to Australia and won the Australian Speedcar Championship at Eastern Creek Speedway.

9) Brandon Overton

Looking to get back to the dominant force he was during the 2021 season, Brandon Overton is off to a strong start in 2023. Overton picked up a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series wins at Golden Isles Speedway in January before winning a DIRTcar Late Model feature at Volusia Speedway Park. This past weekend, Overton collected his fourth win of the year in the Spring Nationals Series season opener at Swainsboro Raceway.

10) Daison Pursley

Daison Pursley's comeback story came full circle in February when he claimed his first career USAC National Sprint Car win at Volusia Speedway Park. The 18-year-old racer also added a trio of Micro Sprint wins racing for Keith Kunz Motorsports during Florida Micro Speedweek at Marion County Speedway.
