Spectators of a certain age have likely seen scores, if not hundreds, of Dirt Late Model feature races with two of the all-time greats, Scott Bloomquist and Billy Moyer, facing off. But with the Hall of Famers in the twilight — or even sunset? — of their careers, head-to-head showdowns aren’t nearly as common.

Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., confirmed to DirtonDirt.com today that he plans to make his return to competition driving a Devin Jones Racing Team Zero Chassis in the Oct. 20-21 General Tire Dirt Track World Championship presented by ARP at Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.

Scott Bloomquist’s future as a race car driver is once again in limbo as he battles continued numbness in his right foot and leg that forced him to withdraw from Sunshine Nationals competition two weeks ago at Volusia Speedway Park in Barberville, Fla.

Scott Bloomquist and Cody Sommer are still partners in the operation of Scott Bloomquist Racing. Several starts remain on their 2021 schedule, including this weekend’s NGK NTK World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte in Concord, N.C., with the Hall of Fame driver racing alongside open-wheel modified ace Nick Hoffman in a two-car effort.
