Regardless of whether it involves a season-long championship or a week-long mini-series, every position, every minute move on the racetrack, can make the difference in winning a championship or falling just short.

Just six days following his 30th birthday, Kevin Thomas Jr. celebrated another milestone 30th on Sunday night at Pennsylvania’s Bloomsburg Fair Raceway by winning his 30th career USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship feature event in the series’ debut at the brand-new 3/8-mile dirt oval.

The newest facility in Pennsylvania racing circles, and on USAC’s racing calendar, is having the finishing touches put upon it in preparation for this Sunday night’s 2021 USAC Eastern Storm finale at Bloomsburg Fair Raceway featuring the USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship on June 20.

The waiting is the hardest part.

Robert Ballou’s first career victory in the state of New Jersey during the 2015 USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car season led him to an Eastern Storm title and, ultimately, a USAC National title late that year.

No track has ever had to wait a half-century between holding its first and second USAC AMSOIL Sprint Car National Championship events, but the 50-year hiatus for Pennsylvania’s Selinsgrove Speedway is over this Thursday night, June 17, when the series returns for its first visit to the half-mile since 1971.

Every victory holds significance for a racer.  From time to time, there’s something that makes a win even a little more special.

The last time the Eastern Storm tour visited Swedesboro, New Jersey’s Bridgeport Speedway, the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Cars were greeted by the newly-constructed 3/8-mile dirt oval constructed within the 5/8-mile track that served as the perimeter of the confines.

The 2021 edition of USAC Eastern Storm begins at its traditional starting point, Grandview Speedway in Bechtelsville, Pa. on Tuesday night, June 15, with the 40-lap Jesse Hockett Classic.
