Despite its beginnings on a rainy night at Paragon Speedway and a closing on a much similar night at Kokomo Speedway 10 days later, the largest schedule in USAC Indiana Midget Week history was run to completion with all eight events contested, and each setting its own bit of history in the process.

With eight nights of racing over a 10-night span, the lengthiest and most rigorous Indiana Midget Week schedule in the 17-year history of the series bled into another day following a rain delay that pushed Saturday’s USAC Indiana Midget Week finale at Kokomo Speedway into the early hours of Sunday for the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship.

Entering Friday’s penultimate round of USAC Indiana Midget Week at Indiana’s Gas City I-69 Speedway, all the chatter revolved around who could step up and carry on the streak that had a different driver and team winning a USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget feature in each of the last eight races, the longest such run of parity since 2009.

A newly-constructed chassis delivered satisfyingly familiar results for Tanner Thorson on Thursday night as the Minden, Nev. native collected his third Lincoln Park Speedway victory in USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget competition during round six of USAC Indiana Midget Week.

The second-ever race in USAC Indiana Midget Week history was held at Gas City I-69 Speedway back in 2005.  On Friday night, June 11, the 1/4-mile dirt oval will serve as the host of the second-from-last race for the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets’ eight-race mini-series.

The championship decider for USAC’s Indiana Midget Week comes down to the one and only Kokomo Speedway this Saturday night, June 12, to cap off the eighth and final race of the 2021 mini-series for the USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midgets.

The crossed flags signify the halfway point of Indiana Midget Week 2021 and we’ve already witnessed the first last lap IMW victory in eight years, a first-time USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget winner, newcomers making a name for themselves and, most importantly, all four races were run to completion despite the troublesome forecasts to open and close the first part of the 17th edition of the series.

Twenty-seven years ago, John Andretti became the first to complete what came to be known as “The Double,” competing in both the Indianapolis 500 and Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR race at Charlotte (N.C.) Motor Speedway in a single day in May of 1994.

Ninety-three previous USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget events have been held inside the city limits of Indianapolis, Indiana, but a first will occur on June 9 for round five of the 17th annual edition of Indiana Midget Week at Circle City Raceway, the newly-refurbished quarter-mile dirt oval located on the southeast side of Indy.

Thomas Meseraull is undoubtedly always one to watch during a USAC NOS Energy Drink National Midget race, and when he’s mired a few rows back, he has consistently shown the ability to get to the front.

Chris Windom has charged into the Indiana Midget Week point lead with four races down and four to go this week June 9-12 as the halfway point has been reached for the 17th edition of the eight-race Hoosier State mini-series for the USAC NOS Energy Drink Midget National Championship.

As if you needed any more indication that, for all intents and purposes, Kyle Cummins practically owns Tri-State Speedway, the Princeton, Ind. driver was there to cement that fact in round four of Indiana Midget Week on Sunday night.
