The CARS Tour heads to Hampton, Virginia this weekend for the VisitHampton.com 125 at the flat, abrasive, and challenging Langley Speedway. And once again the CARS Tour is bringing a large and deep entry list with them.

Headlining that entry list is the most recent winner with the Tour, and the local favorite, which of course would be Brenden “Butterbean” Queen. The Chesapeake, Virginia driver is a multi-time Late Model track champion at Langley, and a winner of the prestigious Hampton Heat. Queen is also the defending winner of this race one year ago, so a win on Saturday would be his second win in a row this season and his second in a row at his home track.

Another local driver that will be one to keep an eye on is Connor Hall. Hall is currently third in points entering Saturday at Langley, but still searching for his first victory of the season. Hall won the 2019 edition of the Hampton Heat, so a win on Saturday night would surprise absolutely nobody.

The CARS Tour has visited the Langley Speedway on four occasions. We already mentioned that Brenden Queen scored one of those victories, but in total there have been four different winners in four races. Unfortunately for the field, it might be tough to add a fifth different winner this weekend as all four of those previous winners are in the field on Saturday.

We’ll spotlight Layne Riggs first. The reigning NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series national champion has made three starts with the CARS Tour at Langley Speedway, and he’s finished in the top five in all of them. Riggs went to Langley’s victory lane in 2020 by a leading a total of just one lap, the last one. Riggs did not compete in this race last year because he was busy chasing the NASCAR national title, but now he’s back and that should spell trouble for the rest of the field.

The next previous winner we’ll spotlight is the driver who won the season-opener this year back in March, and that is Raleigh, North Carolina’s Deac McCaskill. Like Riggs, McCaskill has also made a total of three CARS Tour starts at Langley. He hasn’t finished outside of the top 10 in any of those races. In 2019, McCaskill started tenth and passed nine cars to take the win. In 2022, McCaskill started 18th and passed nine cars to finish ninth. In 2021, McCaskill started third and passed no cars to finish third. Make of that what you will.

The fourth and final previous CARS Tour Langley winner entered in Saturday’s race is Aledo, Texas’ Kaden Honeycutt. Honeycutt went to CARS Tour victory lane at Langley back in 2021 in his first trip to Langley with the series. Honeycutt dominated the day by winning the pole and leading all 125 laps to take the victory. Honeycutt has made two starts at Langley, and both have been top five finishes with him scoring a fourth-place finish last year.

Naturally all eyes this week are on Carson Kvapil, as they are pretty much every week for the defending series champion. Kvapil is looking to rebound after a season-worst eighth-place run last time out at the North Wilkesboro Speedway. Kvapil finished second at Langley with the CARS Tour last season. He also finished third in last year’s Hampton Heat. While he hasn’t won at Langley just yet, nobody would be surprised if the No. 8 machine is back in victory lane for a fourth time this season on Saturday night.

Saturday’s VisitHampton.com 125 at Langley Speedway will be just the second time this season that the CARS Tour Late Model Stock Cars will be racing without their counterpart Pro Late Model series alongside. The CARS Tour Pro Late Models will be back in action on Saturday, June 10 at South Carolina’s Dillon Motor Speedway. Carson Kvapil won the most recent CARS Tour PLM race last Friday night at the Tri-County Motor Speedway. The Old North State Nationals for the Late Model Stock Cars was supposed to run the next night, but it was postponed to August 19th.
