Dirt Late Model Stars Set For Tuesday Night Battle At Fairbury
Many of the biggest names in dirt late model racing will be competing in Tuesday's Castrol FloRacing Night in America event at Fairbury Speedway.
For the first time in more than 100 days, it's Castrol FloRacing Night in America. The popular mid-week touring series returns to action on Tuesday night at Fairbury Speedway with many of the biggest names in dirt late model racing expected to be in attendance.
Current Castrol FloRacing Night in America points leader Brandon Sheppard enters the race with momentum on his side at Fairbury. Sheppard has won the last two "One For The Road" events at the track and collected a win in the track's signature event, the Prairie Dirt Classic at the end of July.
Sheppard's path to a third straight victory will not be easy, however. Six of the top 10 drivers in the latest DirtonDirt.com power rankings are expected to compete in Tuesday night's event.
That list is headlined by Chris Madden, who is coming off a second-place finish in the Dirt Late Model Dream and a third-place finish in the World 100 at Eldora Speedway. Brandon Overton, the winner of the Dirt Late Model Dream and runner-up in the World 100, is also expected to compete at Fairbury.
After winning a World 100 preliminary feature last Friday, Illinois native Bobby Pierce heads to Fairbury with two MARS Racing Series wins at the track already this season.
Hudson O'Neal and Mike Marlar, who currently sit in a dead heat for second in the Castrol FloRacing Night in America point standings, are expected to be in attendance as well.
Other national stars expected to compete in Tuesday's race include Tyler Erb, Ricky Weiss, Kyle Strickler, Jimmy Owens, Ricky Thornton Jr., Kyle Bronson and Earl Pearson Jr.
Like with most events held at Fairbury, the local Illinois contingent will be out in full force hoping to keep the $22,022 in their home state. The list of local stars expected includes Shannon Babb, recent ARCA Menards Series winner Ryan Unzicker, Jason Feger and Frank Heckenast Jr.
Tuesday's event at Fairbury will be the sixth event of the 2022 season. Through five events there have been five different winners with Jonathan Davenport, Kyle Larson, Brandon Sheppard, Dennis Erb Jr., and Hudson O’Neal going to victory lane.
FloRacing's live broadcast is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m. CT / 6:30 p.m. ET for a pre-race show. That will lead into on-track action beginning with hot laps at 6 p.m. CT / 7 p.m. ET with qualifying, heat races, b-mains and features to follow.
In addition to Super Late Models, Modifieds will also be in action on Tuesday night.
