It's time for the most prestigious dirt late model race of the year: the 52nd World 100 at Eldora Speedway. Get ready for the big show in this edition of "Everything You Need To Know" on FloRacing. 

The Race

There may be races that pay more, but there is no race that dirt late model racers want to win more than the World 100. It is the race that every driver circles on their calendar every year with hopes of claiming the coveted globe trophy. The inaugural race was held in 1971 and paid $3,000 to win. Since that original World 100, the winner's share of the purse has increased by $1,000 every year with this year's race paying $55,000 to win. 

In addition to the World 100, the 2022 Dirt Late Model Dream will be completed. The race, which was originally schedule for June, will resume with 14 laps completed. 

The Track

Owned by three-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Tony Stewart, Eldora Speedway is recognized as one of the top dirt tracks in the nation. The half-mile clay oval located in Rossburg, Ohio hosts some of the biggest annual dirt racing events, including the Dirt Late Model Dream, World 100, Kings Royal and 4-Crown Nationals.

Storylines

- The Dirt Late Model Dream will resume on Wednesday with 86 laps remaining. Chris Madden is the current leader of the race with Brandon Overton and Hudson O'Neal behind him. Jonathan Davenport, the winner of the Eldora Million in June, will have his work cut out for him as he will restart the race from the 20th position. 

- In addition to the Dirt Late Model Dream, Eldora will also host the "Chasing the Dream" program on Wednesday night. "Chasing the Dream" will consist of $5,000-to-win feature races for drivers who have not won at Eldora Speedway and who are not racing in the Dirt Late Model Dream. 

- Scott Bloomquist, a four-time World 100 winner, returns to Eldora Speedway seeking his fifth win in the prestigious race. 

- Jonathan Davenport enters the 52nd World 100 as the most recent race winner. 

- NASCAR Truck Series driver Carson Hocevar has entered the event and will be making his first ever start behind the wheel of a dirt late model. 

- Every World 100 starter will receive at least $5,200, an increase of $3,000 from last year's race.

The Format

When you're at Eldora Speedway, every lap matters. Once again this year, the track will use the "Every Lap Matters" format to help set the field for Saturday's 52nd World 100. Each time that drivers are on the race track during Thursday and Friday's preliminary action, they will earn points that will seed them for Saturday's World 100 heat races. 

Multi-Car Qualifying: The field will be split into two groups for Multi-Car Qualifying (Group A & Group B). Each group earns points (see below) separately for their results. 

1st) 100; 2nd) 94; 3rd) 91; 4th) 88; 5th) 85; 6th) 82; 7th) 79; 8th) 76; 9th) 73; 10th) 70; 11th) 67; 12th) 64; 13th) 62; 14th) 60; 15th) 58; 16th) 56; 17th) 54; 18th) 52; 19th) 50; 20th) 48; 21st) 46; 22nd) 44; 23rd) 43; and 24th through field) decreases by 1 point.

But wait, there's a twist. After the heat race lineups are set based on the Every Lap Matters point standings, the "Wheel of Misfortune" will be spun Friday night to determine an invert for the six, 15-lap heat races on Saturday. 

From there, the top three finishers from each heat race will transfer to the World 100 and set the first 18 positions.

The two highest points drivers in the Every Lap Matters standings who do not qualify through heat races will be given the 19th and 20th starting positions in the World 100 main event. 

There will then be two B-Features, with the top two finishers in each race qualifying for the 52nd World 100.
