Everything You Need To Know: Summer Showdown At Evergreen

Monroe, Washington will be buzzing with the sound of pro and super late models this weekend as Evergreen Speedway hosts the track's biggest event of the year: the 10th Annual Summer Showdown. We get you ready for the big race in this edition of "Everything You Need To Know" on FloRacing.

The Race

The Summer Showdown is a 200-lap race for pavement super late models that is contested under the NASCAR Advance Auto Parts Weekly Series sanction. With a hefty purse that features a $25,000 check for the winner, the race has become the biggest pavement late model race in the Northwest and one of the richest races in the country.

In addition to the guaranteed purse, there will be an opportunity for one driver to walk away with $70,000 this weekend. To do so, a driver will need to win Friday's $10,000-to-win pro late model race, start at the rear of Saturday's 200-lap race and win the Summer Showdown.

The Track

Evergreen Speedway features a variety of layouts, but this weekend's race will be held on the fast 5/8-mile oval. Located just over 30 miles northwest of Seattle in Monroe, Washington, the speedway has established itself as one of the premier motorsports facilities in the Northwest.

The Format

The starting lineup for Saturday's Summer Showdown main event will be set by qualifying and heat races.

Results from Friday's qualifying will be used to set starting positions for 20-lap heat races later that evening. The first 32 positions for Saturday's race will be set based on heat race results.

A last chance qualifier race will determine positions 33-36, while two provisionals will be available for Evergreen Speedway weekly drivers who do not qualify in through the LCQ.

Halfway through the 200-lap race, there will be a scheduled break at or near lap 100.
