After a one-year hiatus, the ARCA Menards Series West returns to the town of Bakersfield, California, and Kern County Raceway Park to compete in the Salute to the Oil Industry NAPA Auto Parts 150 this Saturday night.

The 150-lap event at the half-mile paved oval is scheduled for Saturday evening at 8:15 p.m. PT / 11:15 p.m. ET.

This will be the 12th visit to Kern County for the West Series, with Taylor Gray triumphing in the most recent series event at the track during the 2020 season.

Tickets to Saturday’s Salute to the Oil Industry NAPA Auto Parts 150 are available at the track on race day. The race will be streamed live by FloRacing and televised via tape delay on Friday, April 29, at 1 p.m. ET on USA.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR:

Fresh off his dominant victory in the most recent West Series event at California’s Irwindale Speedway, Tanner Reif leads the series into Saturday’s race at Kern County Raceway Park.

Reif led every lap at Irwindale on the way to his maiden West Series victory for Sunrise Ford Racing. If he hopes to do that again, he’ll have to go up against a solid contingent of competitors.

Chief among them is West Series championship leader Jake Drew, who continues his hunt for his first series victory after a fourth-place finish at Irwindale.

Additional competition is expected to come from a variety of drivers, including rookie Austin Herzog, Cole Moore, Joey Iest, Trevor Huddleston and P.J. Pedroncelli.

Todd Souza, who is making his 100th West Series start Saturday evening, also believes he’ll be a threat to win when the green flag waves. He was seventh in the most recent West Series race at Kern County in 2020.

Also joining the field is North Carolina’s Landen Lewis, who shocked the ARCA Menards Series field by winning the Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds in Springfield, Illinois, last year. He’ll make his West Series debut in the No. 42 fielded by Bruce Cook.

Amble Slagle returns to West Series competition after making three starts last season aboard the No. 17 for team owner Steve McGowan. She’ll attempt to improve upon her best West Series finish, which came last year at All American Speedway in Roseville, California, where she finished 10th.
