The ice will not just be broken during the 7th Annual Icebreaker at Florence Motor Speedway, it will be smashed. 

On Saturday, February 5 the season-opening event for Late Model Stock Cars will feature its largest purse ever. With the support from Keen Auto Parts and CorvetteParts.net, the winner's check has been doubled from $5,000 to $10,000. 

The purse increase makes the race one of the richest races of the year for Late Model Stock Car drivers. It has also resulted in a large amount of entries already being submitted for the event. 

Currently, 34 drivers are listed on the entry list for the event with more expected to be added leading up to the race. 

Josh Berry, who will compete full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series for JR Motorsports in 2022, highlights the list of drivers currently entered. Despite being one of the greatest Late Model Stock Car drivers of all-time, the Icebreaker is one of the few race wins missing from Berry's resume. 

Fellow NASCAR Xfinity Series competitor Jeb Burton has also filed an entry for the event. 

In order to get to victory lane, Berry and Burton will need to beat many of the best local and regional Late Model drivers. 

Defending race winner Chad McCumbee is expected to defend his crown after beating Berry on a late-race restart one year ago. He'll be joined by Late Model stars Ryan Millington, Matt Cox, Brandon Pierce, Justin Somero, Justin Johnson and many others. 

Annabeth Barnes, one of just three females to win a Late Model race at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, will also be chasing an Icebreaker win. 

Mason Diaz, an ARCA Menards Series East driver and 2021 Fall Brawl winner at Hickory, has filed an entry and will be a contender for the win. 

This year's Icebreaker is the second running of the event at Florence Motor Speedway. Previously, the event was held at the now-defunct Myrtle Beach Speedway since its inception in 2016. 

Former race winners include: Chad McCumbee (2021), Sam Yarbrough (2020), Ty Gibbs (2019), Timothy Peters (2018), Lee Pulliam (2017) and Tommy Lemons, Jr. (2016).
