Corey Day Wins NASCAR Late Model Race In Pavement Debut At Hickory
Sprint Car star Corey Day collected a NASCAR Late Model Stock Car win at Hickory Motor Speedway during his first night racing on pavement.
Pavement racing fans learned something on Saturday night that dirt racing fans were already aware of: Corey Day is good.
Making his first career start on pavement behind the wheel of a JR Motorsports No. 88 NASCAR Late Model Stock Car, the 18-year old rising star from Clovis, California claimed the win in the second Twin 40 feature at Hickory Motor Speedway.
Following a seventh-place finish in the first Twin 40 feature, an eight-car invert put Day on the outside of the front row for the second feature. He took advantage of the front row starting spot by powering to the lead on Lap 2 and never looking back during the caution-free race.
“It means a lot," Day said after the race. "These guys worked really hard. We came and practiced yesterday and practiced all day today to get me comfortable. I appreciate everyone at JR Motorsports working hard to get a dirt guy comfortable on asphalt.”
IS THERE ANYTHING THIS GUY CAN'T DO!?

Day tested at Hickory Motor Speedway for the first time on Friday and used additional practice sessions on Saturday afternoon to get more comfortable in the car. By the end of the night, the hard work paid off when the Dale Earnhardt, Jr. owned Late Model Stock Car made a trip to victory lane.
Prior to winning Saturday race at Hickory, Day already had three High Limit Racing Sprint Car wins to his credit in 2024. He currently sits third in the High Limit point standings entering next week's races at 81 Speedway (Wednesday) and Lakeside Speedway (Friday/Saturday) in Kansas.
