2024 Spring Sizzler At Stafford Motor Speedway: Everything You Need To Know
Everything you need to know for the 2024 Spring Sizzler at Stafford Motor Speedway including the entry list, historic winners and more.
This weekend marks the 52nd installment of the “Greatest Race in the History of Spring” at Stafford Motor Speedway, the annual NAPA Auto Parts Spring Sizzler. This year’s race is a 100-lap Open Modified event that will take place on Sunday, April 28. To get you ready for this year’s version, here is "Everything You Need to Know" for the 52nd Annual Spring Sizzler.
What is the Spring Sizzler?
The Spring Sizzler is the opening weekend event that takes place every year at Connecticut’s Stafford Motor Speedway. The two-day event is headlined by a 100-lap Modified feature, but also includes SK Modifieds, SK Light Modifieds, Late Models, Limited Late Models, and Street Stocks.
How does the Spring Sizzler work?
For a long time, the Spring Sizzler was a 200-lap feature for the Modified division, and for many years it was actually a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour event. Throughout the years the Spring Sizzler has evolved into what it is now, which is a 100-lap Open Modified event.
The event now consists of eight-lap heat races, 40-lap “Duel” races, and then the 100-lap feature. The heat race lineups are determined via a draw for position. The finishing orders of the heat races will determine the starting lineups for the two 40-lap Duel qualifying races. The finishing orders of those two races on Saturday night will decide the starting lineup for Sunday’s 100-lap feature event.
How much does the Spring Sizzler pay to win?
This year’s announced winners’ purse is $20,000, though the entire purse will see more than $125,000 in prize money paid throughout the field across Saturday’s two 40-lap Duel races and Sunday’s 100-lap main event.
On top of that, there is bonus money available to the leader of each lap to the tune of $150 per lap led, which will bring the winners’ share up significantly.
