It was another Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian Motorsports victory on Tuesday as Buddy Kofoid followed Tanner Carrick to make KKM 2-for-2 on the week. The Penngrove, CA native earned his second preliminary win and locked-in for his fourth Chili Bowl Championship A-Main with a dominating 30-lap run aboard the Mobil 1 #71W.
For the second-straight year, Hank Davis proved that he’s one of the most underrated drivers in the building. Defending his preliminary win from a year ago, the Sand Springs, OK native wheeled the Matt Seymour Racing #29S to a second-place finish behind Kofoid. He’s locked-in for his second Chili Bowl Championship A-Main.
Chase McDermand moved to Trifecta Motorsports to pilot the #7U, but still made it back-to-back preliminary podiums with a third-place run. David Gravel kept Abacus Racing’s hot streak alive with an 11th-to-4th run in his debut with the USAC champions. Kameron Key enjoyed a career-best in the TKH Motorsports #21J, finishing 5th to earn a ticket into Saturday’s B-Main.
Thomas Meseraull, in a new ride with Tim Engler and Jon Farrell, ended up 6th ahead of Matt Wood Racing driver Landon Brooks in 7th and Kevin Thomas Jr. in 8th after recovering from a Heat Race crash. All will go to the B-Main.
Several notables that are C-Main bound on Saturday include Zach Daum in the Andy Bondio #47X, Jake Bubak, Corbin Rueschenberg driving for Tanner Thorson, Parker Price-Miller in a Dave Mac Motorsports ride, Jake Andreotti in the Spike Chassis house car, and late model runner Kyle Strickler in his Chili Bowl debut.
