A torrential downpour on the Tuscarora 50's scheduled date of September 9 has led to a flood of Sprint Car racing's biggest stars at Port Royal Speedway for the rescheduled $60,000-to-win race this Thursday, October 5.

The biggest race on the Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions schedule will feature an impressive field of drivers, including a handful of World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car competitors who will be throwing their name in the ring for one of Pennsylvania's biggest Sprint Car races.

Ten-time WoO champion Donny Schatz leads that very list that also includes Brock Zearfoss, Carson Macedo, Spencer Bayston, and Tanner Holmes. Five-time Knoxville Raceway track champion Brian Brown is another well-known driver expected to vie for one of the largest paydays of the year.

But because Schatz, Zearfoss, Macedo, Bayston and Holmes are WoO travelers, their names are especially noteworthy due to the series' platinum agreement that their respective race teams are only allowed to compete in four non-WoO shows if they want to remain eligible for an exclusivity bonus of up to $150,000.

With most teams electing to use two of those four shows for the Eldora Million at Eldora Speedway, that left just two non-WoO shows for most teams to choose from. For the teams listed above, the Tuscarora 50 will now be one of those shows.

Schatz is the 2018 champion of the Tuscarora 50, the one year the event was WoO-sanctioned because the original date had been rained out and the All Star Circuit of Champions couldn’t logistically rescheduled it. Among the active WoO drivers, Schatz is the only one to have a Tuscarora 50 title.

Macedo, on the other hand, can add a second Pennsylvania-based Crown Jewel to his growing resume. A victory Thursday would add to his 2021 Williams Grove National Open triumph. Macedo started seventh and finished 14th in his lone Tuscarora 50 start in 2018.

Of all the WoO drivers, none know Port Royal better than Zearfoss, the 2017 track champion of the half-mile. Zearfoss’s best finish in the Tuscarora 50 is third in 2017. Bayston’s competed in a pair of Tuscarora 50s himself, finishing eighth and sixth, respectively, in 2020 and ’21.

As for Holmes, the 20-year-old rising driver that’s taken the wheel of the second Shark Racing full-time entry is getting acquainted with Pennsylvania’s racing the scene.

Though Holmes has never raced the Port Royal half-mile before, he should fair well considering he’s driving for the Pennsylvania-based Shark Racing.

This year’s rescheduled Tuscarora 50 so happens to prelude the two-day World of Outlaws swing at the Port Royal half-mile and comes just two days after Tuesday’s penultimate High Limit Sprint Car Series event at Bridgeport Motorsports Park in New Jersey.

In addition to the World of Outlaws drivers competing in the event, 2023 Tezos All Star Circuit of Champions driver's champion Zeb Wise and two-time champion Tyler Courtney are both expected to be in action. Pennsylvania Posse stars Lance Dewease, Anthony Macri, Danny Dietrich and recent National Open winner Brent Marks will be among those defending their home turf.
