The biggest race in the history of sprint car racing is just over one month away. On Tuesday, Eldora Speedway officials released the qualifying format and entry form for the 2023 Eldora Million on July 12-13.

This year's race will be the third version of the Eldora Million but the first version featuring sprint cars racing for the $1,002,023 million top prize. The previous two versions held in 2001 and 2022 were both dirt late model events.

A night of preliminary action featuring a pair of 25-lap features on Wednesday, July 12 will kick things off at the 2023 Eldora Million. Drivers will be split into two groups and each group will run a full show consisting of qualifying, heat races, B-Features and an A-Feature.

Eldora Speedway's signature "Every Lap Matters" format will be in use on Wednesday night, with drivers earning points every time they hit the track beginning with qualifying. Points earned on Wednesday night will set the heat race lineups for Thursday's Eldora Million.

Thursday's action will begin with six heat races (10 laps each) and only the top-three finishers in each heat race will earn starting spots in the Eldora Million. Fourth through sixth-place finishers will go to the B-Feature and drivers seventh on back will go to a C-Feature.

C-Features will be 12 laps and advance the top two finishers to the B-Feature.

For the B-Feature, the top two drivers in the "Every Lap Matters" point standings who did not advance through their heat race will start on the front row. The remainder of the field will be set by heat race results.

The 15-lap B-Feature will transfer the top-six finishers to the Eldora Million, with those drivers starting 19th through 24th in the main event.

Heat race winners will draw for starting positions one through six, heat race second-place finishers will draw for positions seven through 12 and heat race third-place finishers will draw for positions 13 through 18.

The $1,002,023-to-win main event will consist of 50 green flag laps with a break on or near lap 20.
